Nine Glorious Minutes of Watch_Dogs Multiplayer
The creators of Watch_Dogs just released a video detailing what you can do in multiplayer.
We got to see 3 different ways to play the game online...
- Online Contracts which you can see while walking around that will send you into another player's world. If you're the hacker it's your job to fully hack the target without being noticed. If you're the mark, it's your job to kill the hacker.
- Checkpoint Races pit you against someone controlling the world, with the ctOS mobile companion app, who's only goal is to destroy your car. The mobile player will control a helicopter that will keep the spotlight on you while driving. The player can also tap on the screen to hack traps around the city to destroy your car with things like bursting steam pipes or raising a blockade.
- In Competitive Decryption Combat, you and a group of friends must team up against another group to hack a file before they can. Your team will hack faster if they're close to each and it's the opposing teams job to stay close enough to disrupt the hack, almost feels like a new age CTF.
You'll gain "notoriety points" which is what you will use as experience points to level your character up. You can also earn partial points in events. An example of how you might earn partial points: if you start a hack but don't complete it or stop a hack but don't kill the hacker during an online contract. Personally, I can't wait to play Watch_Dogs and hope it lives up to all the hype it received early on.
Watch_Dogs is out on May 27th. Check out the press release below the video, if you're interested.
