Because of you, we were able to attend New York Comic Con this year on both Saturday and Sunday. It was awesome! (Crowded...but still awesome.)
This year's crowd seemed almost exponentially larger than last year's crowd. The downside to that being the panels weren’t so easy to get into this year. Not that they were especially easy to get into last year but there was still that glimmer of hope that we'd make it. Sadly, the two panels we wanted to see were filled to capacity by the time we made it to the convention center, but we did get to see some other ones.
We saw a panel with the cast of From Dusk 'til Dawn and Robert Rodriguez. It was great! They screened a particularly gory scene from Episode 10 of Season 2 of the show. It really made me want to check out an episode or two.
After that, we saw Orlando Jones (Captain Irving on Sleepy Hollow). He had his very own Spotlight panel, so he basically just did whatever he wanted for an entire hour. He told some funny stories and fans also asked him questions. He was really wonderful and genuine and hilarious.
On Sunday we saw the Sleepy Hollow panel. It was a bit disappointing that we didn’t get to see Nicole Beharie or Tom Mison (production changes at the last minute, apparently) but there were some other cast members there, including Lyndie Greenwood. And they showed an episode of the series that had actually aired that week, so it wasn’t anything exclusive. People might have been a little annoyed, but I’m behind so it was new to me!
Besides the panels, there was tons else to see. People really brought their “A” game this year, cosplay-wise. We saw everything from the cutest baby Leia to a full squad of X-Men. It was really fantastic to see all the variety. We couldn’t take photos of everyone but we got some excellent shots of interesting ones.
Last, but certainly not least, we got to spend some time in New York City. It’s still one of my favorite cities in the country. It manages to stay lively 24 hours a day. This was most likely our last trip to NYC until the car show next year, so I was glad we got to enjoy the last vestiges of beautiful weather before winter comes to turn everything gray.
We experienced unadulterated excitement this weekend at 2015 NYCC. Here’s hoping that next year will be even better.
