So you wanna be a good overseer, huh? Well, here are some tips I’ve learned along the way to make your vault run like a well-oiled machine...Read More
To be quite honest, I'd never heard of Awesome Con before this year. That all changed when our friend, Kriss (founder of Movie Trailer Reviews), invited Sterling to be on a panel along with some other fellow podcasters!
The best part was that Monique, esteemed co-host, was visiting me and Sterling. With Charles also in on the fun, it would be the podcast's first convention with all of the hosts together. So, it was off to Washington, D.C. for the GaTSPod crew! Very exciting!
When we arrived, I was very pleased by the relaxed atmosphere at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center. Awesome Con is an annual con that is still in its infancy, having only three years under its belt. It still has that small-town charm, that new car smell, but it had some pretty great panels to offer. Ours included. Security wasn't imposing in the least, which was refreshing, although I'm sure that will change in years to come as attendance grows. So I took the elbow room, mostly body odor free breathing air and plentiful walking room for what it was: a fleeting gift.
After the convention, we went to a local bar called Penn social, located in Penn Quarter. The food was good, the company better. Other podcasters, and even some listeners, came to hang out that evening. Things got really lively. It was fantastic, like a big family reunion. We had a really great time.
Check out the video of our panel below.
Happy New Year EVERYBODY!!!! Well it was a good run out here. I learned a lot about myself, met some pretty cool people, had some both great and awkward experiences on a personal level, and gained a new outlook on what I want to do with my life. I admit that last part sounded kinda cliché and ridiculous, but I got a general idea of what I want to get accomplished (or at least how to get the ball rolling). All-in-all I am hopeful that I will get some shit done...Read More
Well, here we are again and, man, has it been a fun and slightly aggravating month. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, because I’m so close to leaving this bitch. It’s not that it’s hostile and life threatening here but it’s all just so routine out here. The closer we get to the end the less fucks I have to give, which I guess isn’t good but what do you want from me? We have all this ridiculous nonsense that supervision now wants us to do in regards to....Read More
HOLY SANDSTORM!!!!!! I experienced my first sandstorm, and yes, it sucked. However, it was funny to see people walking around looking hella lost, because they couldn’t really see anything, and mad sand hitting their faces. I was one of those people sure but when I got cover it was funny. Sandstorms are a reminder that Satan runs the weather in the desert....Read More
I got the consent of those around me to mention the conversations that we have. It’s not pretty but, hey, welcome to the world of the deployed.
Just about everyone who ain’t married is trying to sleep with somebody, and porn has probably become the best friend of most us. This is what life is now. It’s like a damn brothel except nobody is getting laid. In a strange way, it’s kinda funny....
Alright so we finished the first month and well…IT’S STILL HOT. I haven’t really gotten to go on any trips off base, being that we’re still trying to get situated with our shifts and manning. Also, there are certain rules and customs we’ve got to abide by so it’s a lot of planning. But, hopefully, by September 5th...Read More
I have written this, then rewritten, and then couldn’t finish it because — just like they said — as soon as I got here, I’d pretty much be hitting the ground running. They weren’t lying at in-processing — a whole lot of hurry up and get to these appointments, then waiting for Zod knows how long...Read More
